Question by G-M-B-A: Do "pay for deletion" letters actually work? Anyone actually had success using one of those free template letters on credit forums ??? Best answer for Do "pay for deletion" letters actually work?:

Answer by Sonja
I've never had to do it, but it has worked for people. Visit the website creditboards.com. This is a very informative website with accurate information about credit issues. If you're already in negotiations with a collection agency or the original creditor, I strongly adivse communicating with them by letters only, don't negotiate over the phone. They're less likely to bs you around if they can only communicate with you by writing back and forth to you. By the way, send the letters via usps registered certified return mail. The CA or OC may say they can't delete the tradeline, but they can, just be persistant and get the agreement in writing before you send them a dime. Good luck, no need for you to suffer a bad tradeline on your credit report that can cause you loss of new credit or high interest rates when you're willing to pay the debt off.
