Information About Consumer Credit Counseling Services [creditdiagnosis]

Question by Michael Angel: Equifax Credit Information Services a scam? Hi, I made an inquiry to have SuddenLink Wireless Internet installed in my house, payed a total of $ 105 for the installation (Kinda pricey in my opinion) and was told that will last me until the first of next month. Mind you, I just did this 2 days ago, and now I got this letter saying, *Dear Prospective Customer, When you signed up for Suddenlink or SuddenLink Texas Telcom, you agreed to our obtaining a credit report from a consumer reporting agency, A deposit is required before providing service to you. Equifax Credit Information Service did not make this decision and cannot explain to you why the decision was made. I never agreed to anything! And so, for the rest of this weekend I have no internet (I'm using a neighbors wireless at the moment) and their billing department is closed for the weekend, I can not get a hold of one Customer Service agent for this whole weekend, what kind of company is that? Sound like corporate bologna? I think so, funny thing is I never signed one paper, not even one electronic signature, it was merely an inquiry over the internet, the guy came the next day to install. He gave me a receipt I gave him money (cash) and then that was it. This does not sound like a legitimate company, correct me if I'm wrong. My question is, how do they have the power to do this? Any law majors in the building that can give their 2 cents? Sorry for my rant, I just thought I'd ask on here :) Best answer for Equifax Credit Information Services a scam?:

Sounds like it was buried in the fine print or the merchant did not tell you about it. Running a credit check before extending credit for utilities is a common practice. In fact they had a permissible business purpose and could pull your credit report. Equifax is a legitimate company. The concern should be about the wireless company. They are the ones you should contact to get your money back or service. It sounds like they charged you to install service they were not going to give you because you didn't pass the credit check.

Equifax Credit Information Service did not do this. The ONLY thing that Equifax Credit Information Service did was to sell a copy of your credit report to your Internet service provider. The Internet Service Provider decided to require a deposit and turned off your Internet access (or never turned on your Internet access). Equifax did not do any of these things.

Nowadays, people in America are living far beyond their income. It is quite simple to get credit cards, and prior to you knowing it, huge bills come your way with vast amounts of interest on them. Most people find themselves in serious difficulties because of this. We are going to talk about some of the sensible options you have to resolve the debts you have on credit cards. The aim is to take you through some options, and then you can decide which is best for you depending on your particular situations.

Debt consolidation programs
You will often come across a debt consolidation program, but do not make any quick decisions and always read the small print before making any commitments. Instead of paying back a lot of money back to a number of different companies, you are going to repay what you owe in one monthly installment according to your income.

This is a good way to get you out of your problems and can be helpful for your future. However, not everyone is in service and do not own their own home, which is frequently a condition that you need to have before you can participate in the program.

The most excellent thing to do is to discuss with your personal debt advisor and he/she will be able to recommend a good debt consolidation company that can solve all your troubles. There is also a piece of government legislation that allows you to decrease interest on your loans and debts if you are facing grave difficulties. This choice is well worth exploring. You need to be able to look at all possible avenues and take benefit of everything accessible to solve your debt troubles. Contrary to belief, there are numerous alternatives available to citizens with money problems.

All you need is to contact the right people and look into the right places to find them.

Have a look at your Outgoings
Also, look at your outgoings. Do you spend $ 200 per months on X item? Can you cut it down to $ 100? Look at other things like this and try and make cut backs to save as much as you can. Do not be scared to ask for assistance from others. Discuss with your family members and see if they can help you financially. The thing about this is that any cash loaned from your family members is likely to be interest free. Discuss with your boss too and ask him for a pay rise. Never be frightened to ask this question to your boss. It may appear rude but if you work hard and put in long hours, then a rise in your pay may not seem unreasonable.
