Question by : Kay Jewelers credit term? I'm 18 y/o. I have a job but I only work 2 days a week.. I need help because credit stuff still confuse me and I don't wanna end up with a bad credit or have a lot of debt.. I was thinking of getting my parents new wedding rings for their 20th anniversary.. I went to our local Kay Jewelers, the guy there told me that I should open an account/put it on their credit thingy to make it easier for me so I wont max out my all my savings money..(I got approved for the credit.) He said that I need to put a down payment of $ 200 then just make the monthly payments.. Now, I'm not sure if I should do it or not.. What should I do? I feel like its a trap. Help me, Please.. Best answer for Kay Jewelers credit term?:

You need to READ all the fine print on that credit account. The interest rate is undoubtedly a whole lot more than what your savings account is paying you. don't fall for the old "the monthly payment will only be" routine. Get the details -- how long, how much interest? I'm actually surprised that you qualified for the credit. A 2-day a week part time job sure doesn't sound like sufficient income to open a credit card account. I recommend that you pay cash. If you don't have the cash to pay for the present, get less present. don't put yourself into debt for luxuries.

your gift is really sweet and kind however no one in their right mind wants a gift from someone who financed it. A gift comes from the heart and is never more then one can afford and afford means pay cash. The $ 200 DOWN PAYMENT IS WHAT THE RINGS ARE ACTUALLY WORTH. all financed jewelry stores charge 10-50 times what a product is worth. Shop around
